The Crew Assignments page provides a dedicated interface for viewing and managing crew composition for any selected dispatch. It shows exactly which employees and vehicles have been assigned to each crew based on contracts, service packages, or one-time jobs associated with the active dispatch (the same dispatch currently viewed on the Dispatch Board or Dispatch Map).
This page is particularly valuable because dispatch planning often occurs well in advance, yet real-world conditions frequently require last-minute adjustments. Crew Assignments allows dispatchers and managers to quickly reconfigure crew leaders, crew members, and vehicles on the day of the dispatch to respond to the dynamic nature of field operations.
Accessing Crew Assignments
From the left-hand navigation menu under Dispatch, select Crew Assignments. The page loads with the crew configuration for the currently active dispatch.
Core Functionality
The Crew Assignments page displays all crews for the selected dispatch. Each crew card shows:
Crew identifier and name
Assigned service center
Crew leader (marked with a star)
Crew members
Assigned vehicle(s)
Users can drag and drop employees and vehicles directly onto crew cards. Employees can be designated as either a Crew Leader (with authority to manage vehicles, crew timelines, and timesheets) or a standard Crew Member.
Assignments can exist in three states:
Past dispatches (view-only, non-editable)
Active/live dispatches (fully editable)
Future/planned dispatches (editable in advance)
Daily and Weekly Views
The page offers two primary viewing modes:
Daily View (default) This is the primary operational view. It displays the full crew assignments for a single selected date. Dispatchers use this view to make rapid adjustments on the day of the dispatch.
Weekly View This view spreads the crew assignments across a full seven-day period. It supports the same drag-and-drop functionality for employees and vehicles, giving managers a broader perspective when planning or adjusting staffing across multiple days.
Both views include search functionality, employee filters, and the ability to switch between Active and Event Dispatch contexts.
Integration with Crew Manager
Crew Assignments builds directly on the foundation established in the Crew Manager. While the Crew Manager - List View and Crew Manager - Full Page View focus on overall crew definition, availability, and long-term management, the Crew Assignments page applies those crews to specific dispatches with the flexibility required for live operations.
This separation allows companies to maintain stable long-term crew structures in the Crew Manager while still accommodating the day-to-day changes that are common in field service work.
